Doing the right thing, every day
At Anglia Free Range Eggs, responsibility isn’t an add-on. It’s part of how we operate, how we work with our farmers and how we look after our people, hens and planet.
From ethical trading and fair workplaces to reducing our environmental impact, we’re focused on making practical, meaningful improvements.
Our people
A safe, fair and respectful place to work
We believe everyone involved in producing and packing our eggs deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
- Members of the Sedex platform, helping us monitor ethical trading practices and supply chain performance
- Stronger Together accredited, with staff training and clear protocols in place to help prevent labour exploitation
- Dignity at Work policy in place, promoting equality, respect and inclusion across the business
- Ongoing staff training, building skills, confidence and long-term capability within our teams
We’re proud to support a workplace culture where people feel valued, protected and able to develop.
Environment
Reducing impact, improving efficiency
We’re committed to lowering our environmental footprint and making smarter choices across our operations. We have:
- On-site solar power generation at our Attleborough packing centre
- Electric vehicle charging points available on-site
- LED lighting upgrades and motion sensors used where possible to reduce energy use
- Measuring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions in line with Manufacture 2030 (Scope 1 & 2)
- Working with producers to meet the Lion Code of Practise Carbon Footprint requirements to ensure every farm understands their carbon emissions
- A company soya policy outlining our commitment to use soya from deforestation free and sustainable sources
These actions help us understand our impact and focus on where we can make the biggest difference.
Packaging
Using less, reusing more
Packaging plays an important role in food safety, but we’re always looking for ways to reduce waste and improve sustainability.
- Egg packs are made from recycled materials and are compostable
- We are transitioning to 100% FSC for our outer packaging
- Ongoing changes to reduce plastic packaging elements where possible
We also operate a closed-loop tray and pallet system:
- Eggs are collected from farms using reusable plastic trays and pallets
- These are washed and returned for reuse, reducing single-use packaging
- This system also supports better biosecurity and product stability
- Supply eggs to our customers in reusable plastic shippers which help significantly reduce cardboard waste.
Working with our farmers
Better outcomes for hens and the environment
Many of our free range farms are taking positive steps beyond the basics.
- Many of our farmers use sustainable energy on their farms including wind, solar, hydro and biomass
- Reduce ammonia emissions through the use of ammonia scrubbers on farm
- Additional tree planting provides shelter and enrichment for hens
- These changes also bring wider environmental benefits, supporting biodiversity and landscape health
We’re proud of our work and doing business responsibly and continue to focus on where we can improve.
